I don't know, but they always seem to be near me rattling on in a loud voice even when I make the effort to move away.

But the mouth noise thing really bothers me. It's such a small thing, but I hate it.

Re: misophonia
Certain minor sounds irritate me intensely. The sound of someone eating with their mouth open is definitely one.
People talking loudly on their mobiles, especially in foreign languages, winds me up too.

Re: misophonia
I think I've got this!

It explains my intolerance towards some annoying idiosyncrasies that a person in my orbit has, cracking knuckles at the dinner table, whispering to his wife when you're all sitting together, generally talking shit about most things. Don't actually get anxious just irritated.

My "local" in Jakarta was called Aphrodite. Stuck slap bang in the middle of my walk home from my office to my apartment.

Re: misophonia
So thanatophobia is both a fear of death and an irrational fear of death that ruins your life?

The mechanism of misophonia is not known, but it appears that, like tinnitus and hyperacusis, it is a dysfunction of the central auditory system in the brain and not of the ears.

You just sound really intolerant to me.

Re: misophonia

I've read that the best treatment is to record the sound(s) and listen to them at the same time as music you love. Must be done 45mins a day for 9 months if I remember correctly.

I have it big time. Has lead to many enemies, at least short term. As soon as the sound is gone, the agression is too.

gank's signed a deal with the Devil, which enables him to type in colour.

All he had to do in return was to agree to be reasonable about off-topic topics.
